“Maybe you’ve noticed those gorgeous mosaics that still decorate the outside of some older bank buildings around Southern California. In the 1960s, these works by artist Millard Sheets were everywhere. But over time, as businesses changed, his artwork became harder to find — and to save.
Alison Martino shares how one of his mosaics was rescued from demolition.
