Timothy J. Clark: Going Places
November 9, 2024 – March 8, 2025
Curated by Marcus Burke and Mary Platt
Timothy J. Clark’s expressive interiors, urban landscapes, portraits, figures and still lifes have been celebrated in solo museum exhibitions on both coasts and in the heart of the country. A modern-master figurative painter, he recasts traditions of painting for a new generation. “I paint with enough modernism to unsettle the unadventurous, yet keep enough of the figurative to perplex the avant-garde,” says the artist. “My audience has always been those who appreciate the long continuum of art, and take the time to savor.”
Curated by Marcus Burke and Mary Platt, this exhibition features nearly 40 luminous watercolors by Clark, including many painted on his numerous travels abroad, from Germany, Spain and Portugal to India, Thailand and Cambodia.
